A Brief Summary of No Hub Couplings

Since 1960’s, No-Hub couplings has been one of the best plumbing inventions in the market and changed the cast iron drainage pipe installation. It all started before plastic piping became available in the plumbing business which transformed the industry yet again. In this blog, we strive to deliver not only a brief summary but also the necessary details related to the versatility of no-hub couplings along with their capability to be used for plastic piping.

No hub couplings manufacturer innovated No-hub couplings with a motive to transform the cast iron drainage pipe installations from dangerous and tedious to simple and safer profession. Before its inventions, hubs and spigot cast iron piping were used and melting pots, special clamps, cast iron ladles, etc. were used to connect them. For this, you had to be skilled professionals before being considered as a master in this profession.
No-Hub couplings inner gasket is made up of a synthetic rubber compound called polychloroprene (neoprene). They are designed to adjust according to the variations in diameters of pipes that need to be connected. It generally has outer stainless steel worm clamps which are tightened so that the corrugated shield interlocks with itself. This shield enables to keep the pipes aligned with each other and avoid any sagging or shifting that could lead to breakage in the inner gasket.
With housing and construction taking over the market, builders realized that they wanted a faster way to connect pipes which will reduce the construction cost. Just like no-hub couplings, the manufacturers of mini clips, Hose Clip and the T Bolt Clamps were invented with a motive to be cost-effective and reduce the time and labor required during installation. The No-hub couplings have various uses which makes your plumbing experience much simpler and easier by providing a comprehensive yet firm connection.

V-band couplings: helpful beyond imagination

Among the top turbo clamp distributors in India, Jolly Clamps have a great reputation. As a matter of fact, Jolly Clamps have been known for being the best no hub coupling manufacturers and distributors for lined worm drive clamps.
A yet another product that Jolly Clamps have been well known for, is V-band couplings. Jolly clamps have widespread fame across the national market as V-band coupling distributors.
ClampGroup1-b
V-band couplings are used widely for the purpose of joining component sections, tubes, pipes, etc. from end to end. They are of great use as they help the pipes or tubes carry load while they are conducting the fluids. V-band couplings have two major components: a t-bolt clamp and v-retainer over the flanges. So, in order to join the components or the tubes, the two ends are placed between the v-retainer and the t-bolt clamp is tightened which combine to create a wedging action and put a compressive force on the flanges.
The mechanical advantage of a V-retainer is inversely proportional to the v angle; the greater the v angle, the lesser the mechanical advantage and the lesser the v angle the greater the mechanical advantage. Ideally the retainer type that is used is the all-formed retainer. However in case of high pressure systems, a machined retainer is used.
There are further, 4 retainer segments used:
One segment retainer, which has limited uses because of its rigidity.
Two segment retainer made of two segments and are cost effective to manufacture. They are effective for tube diameters over 5 inches. They can be used for heavy duty applications too.
Three segment retainers are made of three segments and provide double hinging actions. Their usage is limited to conventional latched only.
Four segment retainers are used for relatively larger diameters where there is expected to be a lot of hinging action. They can be used with both single and double latches.

Innovation that made plumbing easy: No Hub Couplings

In the world of clamps and other plumbing and motor fittings, Jolly clamps have made a distinctive presence in the market. They are one of the most well known mini clips manufacturers, hose clip manufacturers and T bolt clamps manufacturers. Also Jolly clamps are quite popular and sought after as no hub coupling manufacturers.

Long before no hub couplings were invented, the traditional way of joining two metal pipes was a very dangerous, time consuming and expensive process. Any chances of failure, meant the whole set up to be re done. Because the only way to join two metal pipes was to melt lead and pour the hot lead in between the joints of the two pipes to seal them and join them permanently. Melting lead was also not as well an easy process. Lead, Oakam, burners, melting pots, special clamps, cast iron ladles, joint runners and caulking irons were required. Moreover, to perform this task it required years of practice and skill acquisition and then you qualify to take this responsibility. Yet, this was a hazardous process and any minor fault could lead to serious and permanent injuries.

No hub couplings came as a boon to save the plumbers from such a complicated situation which could save a lot of time, money and most importantly, lives. The design of no hub coupling is simple yet effective. It consists of a synthetic rubber compound that is surrounded by a protective stainless steel band with stainless worm clamps to keep the gasket fastened and secure it in it’s ownplace preventing it from slipping. So once the two ends of the pipe are brought in contact, the gasket is placed on the joint and the steel band is placed on them to tighten the gasket. Thus sealing the to pipes. This process is also convenient because we can repair/replace in case there is an issue.

Constant tension band clamps: Easy and effortless adjustments

In the online space for buyers who seek quality hose clamps, Jolly Clamps stand out as one of the best quality hose clip manufacturers and no hub couplings manufacturers. Jolly Clamps have also been distinguished into turbo clamps distributors and constant tension band clamps distributors.

Constant tension band clamps are the most flexible type clamps which fit well in the situations where changes due to pressure or thermal variations are frequent and are inevitable. These clamps are manufactured in a way that they can neither be under-tightened or over-tightened. This is because the clamps have no particular arrangement for fastening by default. Constant tension band clamps carry the advantage of being available in dimensions as per requirements.
If we compare constant tension band clamps with the regular hose clamps, following are the points:

  • Constant tension band clamps auto adjusts with temperature variations whereas the regular clamps require manual adjustments.
  • Constant tension band clamps cannot be over/under tightened while the regular clamps have a screw system to tighten or loosen it.
  • Constant tension band clamps need to be installed whereas regular clamps are assembled part by part.
  • Constant tension band clamps comparatively take lesser time than regular clamps to be installed.

Further, constant tension band clamps come in various types.

  1. Single wire hose clamps: They are made of a single wire of varying diameters. They have outward projections at both the extreme ends to adjust during installation.

  1. Double wire hose clamps: These clamps are made of two wires made for better grip. Although the pressure provided is less than single wire hose clamps.

  1. Constant tension clamps: These clamps are flat strips in the same design as single/double wire hose clamps. The pressure is less than single wire clamps but more that double wire clamps.

  1. Constant tension light clamps: These are like constant tension clamps but are more cost effective. However, they work almost same as constant tension clamps.

Hose Clamps: Small but important

A layman’s life may often come across words like pliers, wrench or even hammer. But there are words that aren’t used much but are used extensively in the mechanical world. One of them is clamps. Clamps are one of the most crucial parts in the world of machinery. They are used to fasten hoses, bind or hold clamps to a specific place or a spot. They are also used in plumbing and high end engines in automobiles to sustain high pressure, high temperatures and forces of turbo. Jolly clamps, apart from being one of the leading constant tension band clamp distributors, turbo clamps distributors and no hub couplings manufacturers are also one of the leading hose clip/clamp manufacturers.

Following are the types of hose clamps:

Ear Clamps:
These clamps are used in places where the fittings are to be done for only once. They are stainless steel bands with end projections called ears. These ears are tightened on the hose tubes with special tools called clamp pliers which are used to bend the clamp ears and fix it permanently. The bands in ear clamps are narrow.

Screw Clamps:
These clamps are used widely in the domestic plumbing system. They are the advanced version of ear clamps because there is a screw at the end of the band which facilitates in loosening or tightening of the clamp as per requirement. The bands have comparatively greater thickness than ear clamps. Screw clamps are also known as worm gear clamps.

Wire clamps:
Wire clamps are solid and heavy rings of steel unlike ear clamps and screw clamps that have stainless steel strips. These rings are discontinued in the middle and the ends are separated by flat projections with holes in them for a nut and screw to pass through to tighten the clamp.

Spring Clamps:
Spring clamps are designed to endure heavy pressure and high temperature. They are made of medium carbon steel and possess flexibility in case of expansion or contraction.Spring Clamps are extensively used in the automobile industry.

Essentials of the mechanical world

Jolly clamps have been of the most renowned Spring Loaded T Bolt clamps manufacturers, V-Band coupling distributors, Turbo clamp distributors and lined worm drive clamps distributors. They have been known for not just good quality but also for consistency. For year, Jolly clamps have added new clients to their list and have retained the earlier ones with much ease for the same reason.

Here is some vital information about the aforementioned:

Spring Loaded T Bolt clamps: Spring Loaded T Bolt clamps are designed specifically to withstand challenging conditions like temperature variations or pressure variations because that causes the expansion and contraction of the hose line. In case of such fluctuations, a spring loaded clamp is preferred to provide constant band tension.

V-Band Couplings: These couplings are used wherever there is a constant need of regular maintenance which demands the couplings to be removed and put back time and again. They come in various configurations to meet the needs of  piping containers, regulators, filters, etc. Owing to the ease of assembly, the time taken and the assembly cost is less. They come in wide range of shapes, sizes, thickness and materials.

Turbo clamps: Turbo clamps are used extensively in the automobile industry. Turbo clamps connect vehicle exhaust pipe flange to turbo. They are built for high performance and heavy duty to withstand extreme heat and jerks in the under bonnet of the vehicles. Stainless steel is the standard material used for the construction of turbo clamps.

Lined worm drive clamps: They are functionally same as the regular hose clamps. The only difference is that the inner side of these clamps are lined smooth to give considerations to hoses made of softer materials like silicon rubber. This helps in tightening the clamps without affecting the material.

Constant Tension Clamps: Flexibility Guaranteed

Jolly Clamps have been the leading Constant Tension band manufacturers, Turbo Clamps distributors and No Hub Couplings manufacturers. Jolly Clamps have also been the leading hose clip manufacturers. Hose clip is a thing of absolute wonder. Unlike the regular clamps or clips, there is no fixed fastening required for hose clips. They don’t require any screw system or any external or manual adjustments for fastening, because they are manufactured in such a way that the only effort that is required, is while installing them and that is to stretch them to fix on the hose.
If you compare them with the regular clamps, they are more responsive to temperature variations and expand/contract accordingly. They are also very easy to install and their installation takes lesser time.

There are four types of hose clips:

Single wire clamp: Single Wire hose clip as the name suggests is made from a single wire and is the most basic type of band and still remains to be one of the most effective designs. Single wire hose clip helps us in focussing the force on one specific area of the hose.

Double wire clamp: Double wired hose clamp is the variant of a single wired hose clamp and is made of two wires. Notably, a double wired hose clamp provides lesser clamping force than a single wire hose clamp. The grip however is well spread. As compared to single wired clamps, it is aesthetically better and is more cost effective.

Constant tension clamp: Constant tension band clip is an upgraded level of double wire hose clip. The difference in design is that constant tension hose clamp is a flat strip. Its clamping force is between a single wire and a double wire hose clamp.

Constant tension light clamp: This is the economical version of constant tension clamp but are functionally equally effective.

Hose Clamps: Saviours of the modern day machinery

When you are looking at multiple problems related to hose fastening, tightening of flanges and automobile hose related issues, it is almost inevitable to not get your issues resolved at the same place. Except if you decide to visit Jolly Clamps. Jolly Clamps is one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of clamps in India and is the all-in-one solution to all your issues and requirements. Jolly Clamps is very popular as one of the finest Hose Clip manufacturers, No Hub Couplings manufacturers, Spring Loaded T Bolt Clamps manufacturers and Mini Hose Clips manufacturers.

Let’s have a brief info on the aforementioned:

Hose Clips: Hose Clips are the aids for successful pumping of fluids from one end of the hose to the other end. When a fluid is pumped from the source or one end of a hose, the liquid is transferred at high speed and pressure. In that case, it is very important that the liquid is transferred efficiently without any loss. It is here when the hose clamps play their role. They make sure the leakage is prevented even in the most extreme conditions. They are of two basic types: screw type and spring type.

No Hub Couplings: No Hub Couplings were designed specifically for cast iron pipes. Its revolutionary design had brought a great relief to the otherwise tedious and labour intense installations wherein joining two pipes required skilled labour to pour molten lead in between two pipes. This was a very hazardous process and could result in grave damages in case of mishaps. The No Hub Coupling has an inner rubber gasket surrounded by a stainless steel band for tightening. This arrangement helps the pipes carry large volumes of liquid without any leakage or damage.

Spring Loaded T Bolt Clamps: These are the modified versions of the traditional clamps. They have a screw system for tightening the clamp strips which greatly helps in adjusting according to the dimensional changes brought about by thermal variations. Spring Loaded T Bolt Clamps are as good as any customized hose clamps and are extremely popular.

Mini Hose Clips: These are the miniature versions of the regular hose clips. They may be small in size but are big on performance. They are widely used in automobile engines for pumping the engine liquids. They can easily withstand high temperature and pressure.
